Glossary

This glossary defines key terms used throughout the Asset Register section of Sprinto. It helps you understand the terminology related to asset classification, ownership, and integration, so you can manage your compliance processes more effectively.

Term	Definition
Asset	Any infrastructure, device, repository, or person relevant to compliance.
Asset Register	The section in Sprinto where all auto-discovered and custom assets are listed, classified, and managed.
Auto-discovered Asset	An asset automatically retrieved from integrated systems like AWS, GitHub, or Rippling.
Custom Asset	An asset added manually because it cannot be pulled automatically by Sprinto (e.g. physical servers, CCTV systems).
Asset Group	A category or label used to organise assets in the Custom assets tab.
Classification	A compliance label indicating whether an asset is In Scope, Out of Scope, Production, Non-Production, or Not Classified.
Owner	The person responsible for an asset, typically involved in its compliance oversight.
Bulk Upload	The process of importing multiple assets using a CSV template.
Security Hub	The integration setup module in Sprinto that connects external platforms to auto-discover assets.
In Scope	An asset that is included in the compliance programme and requires monitoring.
Out of Scope	An asset that is not part of the compliance programme and does not require monitoring.
Not Classified	A placeholder status for assets that haven’t been assigned a classification yet.
Infrastructure Tab	Section listing cloud infrastructure entities like EC2s, storage buckets, or databases.
Staff Devices Tab	Section listing endpoint devices assigned to employees.
Code Repos Tab	Section listing code repositories retrieved from integrated Git providers.
People Tab	Section listing staff members retrieved via HRMS or IDP integrations.
